Shiraz
Syrah or Shiraz has been planted through out the world successfully and has earned its seat among the world's most popular reds. Shiraz is the name for the same grape varietal in warmer New World Wine regions like Australia. Depending on the climate, soil, regional characteristics and the wine-makers nuances within the process it expresses itself in different ways, can be round and fruity or dense and tannic, but there are specific shared traits in all.
Shiraz is, typically, a very bold, full bodied and rich red with firmer and bigger tannins. It carries aromatic notes of smoke, rich and deep black fruits and exciting black pepper spice and earthy flavours. It is usually produced in the dryer style.
Shiraz teams up very well with the barbecued meats, braised beef, aged cheeses like gouda, roasted or grilled lamb. It is the best wine to go with the hearty dishes.
